A Dream Collection by Roberto Cavalli S/S 2014

A Dream Collection ... “Is a movie. Is a dream. Every collection should make you dream. I don’t know if you dream in black and white. I don’t know if you dream in color. For me it depends on the day. I’m dreaming in color now because it’s a very good time for me. I want you to dream… I want you to live a dream that becomes your reality… I want you to be in the spotlight… one you can enjoy … more sensual than ever…When I designed the new Roberto Cavalli Spring Summer 2014 Collection I wanted to create dresses that make those occasions even more special… a collection that enhances your natural sensuality… for sophisticated women to dream on…!" - Roberto Cavalli

"Every occasion should be a special one… for this collection I used embellished fabrics, unique workmanship, crazy, beautiful, seductive, without being flashy… I chose shades of black… white… from silver to pale pink through ethereal green… Making this collection gave me a great satisfaction and the applause and reactions of the audience, which I followed from my last-row position, gave me their confirmation… This year the backstage was more hectic than the past few years, but all the models were flawless and very professional!" The Projection of a dream - Movies, like fashion, are born from inspiration.

An artistic vision highlighting the most superb artisanal techniques, a place where dreams become reality. The S/S 2014 Roberto Cavalli collection is inspired by the cinematography of the silver screen, in a projection of femininity. Unique, romantic and exuberant, the Roberto Cavalli woman is the Goddess of a sensual revolution where images shine in the gowns just like in dreams. The desire to enhance reality through the filter of an extraordinary cinematographic light which becomes real in the seductive silhouettes and sinuous outlines of the clothes.

Silver dominates the scene. Subtle hues of powder pink, pearl grey, mint green and light blue contrasted with black and white. Embroideries created with satin crystal baguettes, metal suspensions and Mukesh embellishment techniques stand out on the geometric cuts of the fluid dresses. Slip dresses, flowing caftans, jacquard prints, lace and tie-dye create contrasting and faded effects embodied in dynamic and luminous shapes. Python, iguana, crocodile and denim patchwork pants and jackets redefine the iconic heritage of the Maison in a contemporary style.

In nuanced shades of the colors and materials in the ready to wear collection, the Hera and the Dea bags are enriched by micro-studs and customizable with charms representing the symbolic animals of the Cavalli tradition. Artisanal sensuality is also featured on the jewelry created with crystals, galvanized ultra black and colored enamels which give life to miniature animals. The stiletto heels with embellished leather feature silver lines which extend from the ankle to the knee through leather laces creating a delicate armor effect. The aviator Bombshell sunglasses signal a new type of feminine mystery, with snake leather blinkers and mirrored black or iridescent silver lenses.

“I wanted this English rose,” explained Christopher Bailey backstage, “soft and tender. It started with a mood more than a theme something gentle and kind.”
